What is PechaKucha?
PechaKucha (Japanese for chit-chat) is a simple storytelling format where you show 20 images, each for 20 seconds. The images advance automatically on a timer and you talk along to the images. There is no option to ‘pause’ or ‘go back’ - you have a total of 6 minutes and 40 seconds to present!
PechaKucha is what “Show and Tell” always dreamed of becoming.
Creative. Connective. Authentic. Memorable. It’s Informative, Fast and sometimes Chaotic, but above all, FUN!
We debuted the format at The Northern Eye way back in 2019, and you loved it… so much so that it’s become a staple part of our festival format ever since.
Whilst we prepare a new wave of fortnightly Talk Photo events after the Easter break, we thought it would be a great idea to kickstart the new season of talks by holding a special Talk Photo edition of PechaKucha.

We love sharing all things photography and invite you, our audience to present some of your own work or projects you have been working on.
We are thrilled to offer the opportunity for up to 10 people to present at this special Talk Photo PechaKucha event.
It’s a great way to share and talk about your work.
TUESDAY 13th MAY (Date Change) 7pm
All you need is 20 images and an eagerness to talk about and present your work. If that sounds like you and you’re up for the challenge, hit that apply button before the end of the day on Saturday 10th May – the first 10 people to apply will be selected and contacted to present at the event.
PLEASE NOTE: you will need to be able to supply 20 images labelled 1-20 by Monday 12th May to allow us time to format the PechaKucha slide shows.
APPLY TO PRESENT
There is no cost to either apply or present.
It goes without saying that the presenters will also need an audience to present their work to, so if you’re not up for presenting please do grab an audience ticket to support the event and to hear their presentations.
TALK PHOTO is a fortnightly evening social event in Oriel Colwyn’s gallery space, where invited speakers are here IN PERSON to share presentations and insights about their work or projects, with a friendly intimate audience.
This special Talk Photo start at 7pm (doors open 6.30pm) with audience tickets issued on a first come, first served basis.
If you are in a position to contribute towards the talks then please choose a donation option – this will directly help Oriel Colwyn and the continuation of these events going forward.
If you would prefer not to donate, please choose the FREE Ticket option.
Due to space limitations, we will be capping the audience to 30 people and are happy to offer a FREE option to remove any financial barriers to attend.
